Self-conscious

The purpose of this character design was to illustrate my worst trait. "Self-conscious" was the first thing that popped into my mind, because of the way the assignment made me feel. I didn't really want to tell me people my worst and certainly not my best trait. And it was for that exact reason that I thought self-consciousness is a terrible trait; it is a natural impulse of mine and it results in things like isolation, envy, and focus of self, which I believe are terrible things. God had to pull some pretty rough strings for me to brave uncomfortable situations, not just for the love of Him, but for myself as well, and I am much happier trying to be brave. I'm still not entirely rid of it, but I hope for the day when I will get up in the morning and only care about what God thinks.

Next week we have to illustrate a character that represents the worst trait we see in other people, and so far I've got two, but you'll have to find out about it next week, because we're not allowed to talk about it- shhhh!

And as for my technique I tried something new with both of these. I simply refined my pencil sketches a bit, laid down the shadows with either brown, or purple-brown, and then I multiplied the scanned drawing and colored it in photoshop.
